Running on the Road
Question: Some people say it’s better to run/walk on a treadmill than the road – is that true?
Answer: It all depends on what you’re looking for. With any exercise the most important aspect is to keep doing it, so therefore you must enjoy what you’re doing. If you’re happy and can run on a treadmill for a sustained period sufficient enough to give you the workout you need, then the treadmill is perhaps softer on the joints than the hard road surface. Many gyms however limit the times allowed on a treadmill. Many people however find it boring or battle to stay motivated on a treadmill. For this reason, it is obviously much better to run on the road/beach or pavements. Do whatever it takes to keep you out there. The treadmill remains useful when out of familiar territory or when the weather prohibits outdoor exercise.
